WOTD: Experteering

Word of the day, thanks to a new startup called MovingWorlds, whose blog I discovered recently, is “experteering“. It nicely sums up what VSO and other skill sharing charities are doing.

You gotta love portmanteau words! I definitely consider myself a volunteer. Not sure about being an expert. But 1 out of 2 isn’t bad!

What is it?

Ex-pert-eer-ring
adj
[ex-spurt-ear-ing]
Individuals donating professional skills and business acumen to high-impact, high-potential businesses with social and environmental missions around the world.

Who is it for?

Experteering is for professionals who travel around the world and enrich their own lives by supporting some of the most socially and responsible organizations around the world. Social Enterprises like Argentina’s TerraCycle, New Zealand’s Wanaka Wastebusters, and Nepal’s Wireless Project and Himanchal Foundation to name a few.
