Across the Border

R&R with Natalie…

Welcome to Zambia

A few weeks ago, I ventured across the Zambian border to visit Herman, my VSO Malawi compadre (https://hermanfung.wordpress.com).I doubled up work with pleasure; headed to my second home in Chipata to catch up with my colleagues at Chisomo Community Programme and my Eastern Province VSO family and then headed for the border.

It took me a long 7 hour bus journey to get from Lusaka to Chipata, but a mere 3 hour trip from Chipata to Lilongwe. In a nutshell, the itinerary:

1) Night in Lilongwe

Dinner out with Herman, his housemate Robin and Judy (http://judysweeney.wordpress.com). I previously met Judy in Birmingham on the P2V course, so was great to have  catch up. It never ceases to amaze me how the people I met in the delightful Harborne Hall have remained so integral to this whole VSO business.

2) Two nights at Senga Bay; Lake Malawi
